FAAE urges President Obama to honor your obligation
The Forum of Armenian Association of Europe (FAAE) has addressed a letter to U.S. President Barack Obama.
"Your Excellency, Mr. President,
Appealing to you on each April 24 with a pledge to honor your obligation in relation to recognizing the Armenian Genocide is now becoming a bad tradition.
This obligation you had taken upon yourself before the American Armenians and Armenians worldwide by promising to call the 1915 crimes against humanity Genocide in your speech on the Genocide commemoration day.
An enormous part of the Armenian people was destroyed as a result of this crime and 90% of this people's land was lost therein.
Mr. President, we have not yet lost our hope and faith that the President of the United States of America will have the courage to defend justice and for the sake of the future of all mankind take the step worthy of a
President of a great nation. We believe that you will honor your pledge and thereby regain the reverence you had prior to the presidential elections and soon after. We believe that justice is not bought or sold, especially in a country built on democratic principles and one which fights for freedom, justice and democracy -- a country like the United States of America. We await, with faith, your speech on April 24," reads the letter.
