“Elections should be dismantled”
Change of power will only be possible through direct democracy in Armenia, said today system analyst Garegin Chugaszyan as he presented his "Chess Theory" during a seminar organized by the "Sardarapat" Movement initiative.
"It would be at least delusive to expect the subsequent or special elections to be held in a civilized manner when the so-called bandit machine hasn't been dismantled yet," said Chugaszyan, adding that that is the reason why the "Sardarapat" Movement continues to be guided by the "no to elections" principle.
According to Chugaszyan, developments taking place in the region make it clear that Armenians will soon be dealing with developments that will determine the fate of the nation and, according to him, those developments will require the nation's collective, political will.
Member of the "Sardarapet" Movement initiating group Tigran Khzmalyan touched upon how Armenia is responding to the foreign challenges such as the downfall of states in the Arab World. "Everyone in Armenia is busy doing something that they shouldn't be doing. Uncertainty is a huge issue and we should try to be rational."
Participating in today's seminar were members of the initiative and guests from other political parties and organizations, including Karapet Rubinyan, Alexander Arzumanyan, Aram Karapetyan and his partisans, Ashot Manucharyan, as well as representatives of environmental and civic organizations.
Among speakers were member of the initiative "We are against the reopening of foreign language schools" Armen Hovhannisyan, member of the strategic policy club Artur Avtandilyan and others. In her speech, President of the management council of the organization Human Rights and Democratic Institutes Arpine Galfayan stated that changes are necessary not only in terms of political parties, but at a much deeper level as well.
