Raffi Hovannisian listens to appeals, ends hunger strike
Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisian, who has been staging a protest fast at Liberty Square since March 15, has stopped his hunger strike.
Addressing his fellow citizens, Hovannisian said that the first phase of the hunger strike was over. Hovannisian took the decision taking into consideration the appeals of doctors, intellectuals and family members.
Hovannisian said he stopped the strike for the sake of citizens who've been supporting him and his daughter Shushi who'll be 18 on March 31.
Details will be given later in the day.
A doctor examining hunger striker Raffi Hovannisian Tuesday expressed concern about his health and urged him to stop the "Freedom Fast" that entered its third week.
Hovannisian began "freedom fast" on March 15 in protest against the government's failure to address problems in the country. He has called for snap presidential and parliamentary elections as "radical solutions" to the country's "emergency situation."
