Police need video records
"Police record opposition's rallies, marches and protest actions to have grounds in the future," a senior police representative said at the Aghvaran-hosted workshop on "Peculiarities of Information Freedom in Law Enforcement Agencies."
Ashot Aharonyan, Head of the Department of Public Relations and Information of the RA Police, said the records could be provided to media upon request.
"It is better to record than report verbally. Our European colleagues also recommended recording protest actions," Aharonyan said.
According to Aharonyan, the police will soon have a chance to get into contact with media. A handbook is being elaborated with the OSCE Office in Yerevan to provide communication between the police and media representatives.
The meeting was organized by the Freedom of Information Center and United States Agency for International Development (USAID). It was attended by representatives of General Prosecutor's Office, Police, Ministry of Justice, and journalists.
