“Victory is near”
Aram Sargsyan also spoke at Freedom Square.
"The light of freedom has been shed on Armenia. This is a miracle.
We were holding such rallies this time three years ago. The fact that there are more people today than back then means that the nation has a future. Only a nation that fights as one will win.
We have to believe in our leader. Coming here should be a step toward real victory. These authorities should realize that no material value, power or chair has the same value as standing here and speaking to you. Victory is near."
Former political prisoner Harutyun Urutyan is also at Freedom Square. "I bow in front of the people. If it weren't for you and this day, I wouldn't be here. I would like to see the rest of the political prisoners in liberty and we will reach that goal no matter what it takes. We are in liberty thanks to the ANC's struggle."
In his speech, leader of the People's Party of Armenia Stepan Demirchyan addressed the gathered and said: "I also congratulate all of us on our victory. Today you showed that this country has a future. There is no doubt that we will reach our goals of releasing all political prisoners and establishing rule of law in the country. Only the power entrusted by the people can bring the country out of this situation."
