If the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) displayed enough interest towards Armenia, we would not have political prisoners in the country, A1+ would be returned to the air and the perpetrators of the March 1, 2008, clashes would be behind bars, said Arman Grigoryan, a representative of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) representative to PACE.

In its rally on March 1, HAK called on the Armenian authorities to release people arrested for their political views by March 15, i.e. before the arrival of the PACE co-rapporteurs on Armenia.

Arman Grigoryan remined that Armenia failed to implement PACE resolutions adopted after the tragic events of March 1, 2008.

"Even if the authorities try their best to meet PACE recommendations before the co-rapporteurs' arrival, they will not manage to do it before March 15," said the HAK representative.

Arman Grigoryan expects the co-rapporteurs to condemn Armenian authorities for their failure to honour PACE recommendations though he thinks that their criticism is belated.

"Everybody knows that PACE is unable to pressurize Armenian authorities, no matter how tough it criticism may sound," he said.
