Phillip Gordon: Russia is not gaining control over the process”
U.S. and Russia supports the basic principles for resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict proposed by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, U.S. Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasian Affairs Phillip Gordon said in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Commenting on the opinion that Russia is gaining control over the process, Mr. Gordon said, "Russia is geographically close to the conflict zone and it is easier to organize a meeting in Sochi, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Astrakhan, than in faraway Washington."
"Russia acts transparently and informs the United States and France on the details of all meetings," Gordon said.
Asked how the anti-government protests in the Arab world can affect Azerbaijan, the U.S. official preferred to remain silence.
