Former street traders and police officers clashed after MP Zaruhi Postanjyan tried to find out why citizens couldn't exercise their right to move freely, which is reserved by the RA Constitution. The police hadn't allowed them to stand near the government building.

MP Armen Martirosyan today did everything possible to ask the police officers why they were prohibiting peaceful demonstrators from standing near the government building, but his question remained unanswered.

Zaruhi Postanjyan mentioned that the police officers are committing a crime.

"A case can be instigated under different articles and a verdict can be announced. Of course, appealing to the courts and disputing law-enforcement bodies' actions are unsuccessful in Armenia," said the MP.

The newly elected Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan and RA Minister of Justice Hrair Tovmasyan heard the MPs' complaint. Tovmasyan promised that they would present the issue to the prime minister, while Karen Andreasyan only mentioned that he would do everything possible to support the MPs.

According to Deputy Chief of Police of Yerevan Robert Melkonyan, "Heritage" and the HAK need these protests "in order to have 2 or 3 people join their parties".
