The rally organized by People's Party (ZhK) near the Matenadaran started with a delay. Before the rally, participants were given red cards with "the Lord's Prayer" written on the reverse side. The ralliers commemorated the victims of the 1988 Sumgait pogroms and March 1, 2008, clashes with a minute of silence.

Addressing the crowd, Tigran Karapetyan said rural residents were unable to attend the meeting as the roads leading to the capital were blocked by the police.

Present at the event are members of the Sardarapat movement Tigran Khzmalyan and Jirayr Sefilyan.

Talking to A1+, Sefilyan said he had accepted Karapetyan's invitation to participate in the rally as they sought to unite people against the tyrannical government.

On March 1, Sefilyan will participate in the rally of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK).
