Georgia not to sell controlling shares of gas pipeline
Georgia is not going to sell the gas pipeline connecting Russia with Armenia, Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri told a press conference in Yerevan on Wednesday.
"The Georgian government has no intention to sell the control stock of the main gas pipeline to any other country," Gilauri said during a press conference with his Armenian counterpart Tigran Sargsyan.
"Management of strategic entities, including the gas pipeline, will remain under the jurisdiction of the Georgian government," the Georgian PM said.
According to press reports, Georgia is going to sell the sector of the gas pipeline passing through the country to Azerbaijan.
Before the press conference, the Prime Ministers of Armenia and Georgia discussed a series of issues related to bilateral cooperation. The officials discussed communication and transit issues and priorities of socio-economic cooperation.
"Georgia has adopted a number of new laws and our ministries are working jointly in this direction. We have agreed to continue cooperation in all agreed spheres," said Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
"Georgia has adopted a law on a special taxation of cargo vehicles. The measure was to preserve road communication of the country. In this context, we have agreed to spare no effort to preserve financial parity and to remove possible obstacles while crossing the border which may occur in the light of new laws," Sargsyan said.
