At 10 a.m. this morning the drivers with Georgian state license numbers were supposed to leave for Vanadzor to participate in a protest to be held at 12 p.m. The protest was organized by the drivers of Vanadzor who have Georgian state license numbers.

As president of the "Asbarez" Press Club of Gyumri Levon Barseghyan told "A1+", the chief of road patrol of the Shirak and Aragatsotni region, Colonel Karapetyan met the drivers and called on them not to go to Vanadzor since the roads were impassable.

However, the drivers told him that road patrol officers can accompany them and only ensure security, after which Colonel Karapetyan threatened that the drivers can't pass near Jajur village.

Nevertheless, the drivers headed toward Vanadzor at 11:20 a.m. When they were near Jajur village, they found out that the police had closed the road. The police even prohibited drivers who had Armenian state license numbers and were not participating in the protest from passing, saying that the road was impassable and it was impossible to move forward.

"True, it is snowing, but I assure you that there is salt poured on the road and drivers can pass. I think the police did this intentionally so that the drivers wouldn't be able to make it to Vanadzor and participate in the protest," said Levon Barseghyan who was with advocate Artur Sakunts and was supposed to join the drivers.

Let us remind that the drivers are protesting against the latest changes in the RA customs legislation.
