Statement from prison
Nikol Pashinyan's statement
"The list of illegal acts against me at the Artik penitentiary continues to be replenished.
For the past two months, I have been deprived of the right to send letters, which is guaranteed by the RA Constitution, the RA laws and the rules and regulations of the penitentiaries. Contrary to the RA laws, the regime of Artik penitentiary refuses to accept or send my letters, but that is an obligation. I am also not given the opportunity to transfer any document to my attorneys, even documents prepared in response to the questions from the European Court of Human Rights. The limits on my contacts with the outside world are increasing contrary to the requirements of the RA legislation.
Mass media outlets, law defense organizations, my attorneys, relatives and I have sounded the alarm about this. As a result, not only are the illegal acts continuing, but they have increased. This is unquestionable proof that those acts are instructed by the elite that seized power in Armenia. The regime is concerned that even extraordinary measures were not able to suspend my journalistic and political activity.
Through the scandalous illegal acts, the regime hopes to force me to suspend my activities and such a demand is overtly presented by making an attempt to impose the status of someone begging for freedom.
With this statement, I deem it necessary to state to the public that:
-the attempts of the regime to impose conditions on me are doomed to failure. I am living for a Free and Happy Armenia. I will fight for Truth, Freedom, Legality, Human Rights and Freedom of Speech until the end, regardless of whether I will be in prison or in liberty.
It is impossible to silence me or suspend my actions through threats or illegal acts.
Our struggle is incessant and our Victory is inevitable.
I call on all citizens of Armenia to fight until the end for their rights, dignity and welfare.
Long live Freedom,
Long live the Republic of Armenia
Long live our children who will live in a Free and Happy Armenia.
Nikol Pashinyan"
