Political scientist Stepan Safaryan believes Robert Kocharyan's return to politics and his political support need to be two separate issues.

"His return to politics is a very complicated issue after being charged with being responsible for the tragic events of October 27 and March 1," Mr. Safaryan told "A1+".

The political scientist recalled that Robert Kocharyan made an attempt to return to politics in the period between December 2009 and January 2010. "He paid visits to Iran and Russia. I am aware that one of the issues discussed was Russia's intervention in appointing Robert Kocharyan RA Prime Minister. Everyone will also recall the BHK's criticism against Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, as well as the debate between Nerses Yeritsyan and leader of the BHK (Prosperous Armenia Party) Gagik Tsarukyan. They were trying to disband the government by 2010 by having it as the target."

Stepan Safaryan had trouble saying whether the BHK is Kocharyan's political support or not, but he says it is clear that the BHK and Kocharyan don't have any problems.

If Robert Kocharyan reminds that the pre-electoral list of the HHK was formed by his consent in 2003 and 2007, Stepan Safaryan assures that Kocharyan also formed the pre-electoral list for the BHK. "I can't say how the BHK will support Kocharyan's return, but it can be the political force with a notable component of assurance for Kocharyan."

Stepan Safaryan doesn't know whether Kocharyan will participate in the 2012 parliamentary elections or not, or whether he will head the list of the BHK or not. "If Robert Kocharyan heads the list of the BHK, the latter will be deprived of many chances. If he doesn't and reaches an agreement to have the BHK nominate him as prime minister after the elections, that is a different issue. It is too early to talk about that since it is still unclear as to what the future parliament will look like."
