“Sargsyan is the president of all Armenians”
Don't forget the mass of protesters
Head of the HHK (Republican Party of Armenia) faction Galust Sahakyan says it is natural for debates and discussions between the HHK and the BHK because "it will be impossible to make decisions without them and without expressing positions".
"It is an ongoing process. As for extreme views expressed in the presses, I don't think there are any issues at the moment. There are always reclassifications and directions for the road ahead a year before the parliamentary elections."
Sahakyan also reminded the BHK that "in the current situation, there is a mass of protesters and we must be able to specify our political logic and activities". "There are no serious political processes taking place within the political coalition at this moment."
"We have no referees, Mr. Kocharyan"
Galust Sahakyan says he doesn't want to find any subtexts in Robert Kocharyan's interview to "MediaMax". "There are only players in the political field and each party, each political team is a player and has its referee. As far as the activities of an official are concerned, according to the Constitution, any president is obliged to coordinate the activities of different wings of government. Mr. Kocharyan is not showing this and in general, the approaches connected to the HHK are not too accurate because the HHK supported Robert Kocharyan and has tried to give solutions to all issues and political processes through cooperation."
"It is tough to say that the HHK lists were agreed with. The essence of cooperation is that any political phenomenon should be discussed with the president. The cooperation has been very clear and simple. We haven't had and can't have referees," said Galust Sahakyan, adding that Robert Kocharyan's view that he could have been leader of the party whenever he wanted is not true.
As far as rumors about Robert Kocharyan's potential return to politics, Sahakyan said: "I have not noticed any trends in the past couple of years and that is very insulting for the second president. Anyone can run for president."
Galust Sahakyan also noted that Armenia has a president who made himself and Armenia recognized through his words, approaches and formulations. "I think Serzh Sargsyan proved that he is everyone's president, especially since ratings show that the head of state has a higher rating than that of the HHK. Serzh Sargsyan is the president of all Armenians around the world."
