Today at 12:45 p.m., CE Human Rights Commissioner Thomas Hammarberg visited editor-in-chief of "Haykakan Zhamanak" daily newspaper Nikol Pashinyan at the "Artik" penitentiary.

Pashinyan's supporters were gathered near the penitentiary and were screaming "Freedom" during Hammarberg's nearly two-hour visit.

Among Pashinyan's supporters is former political prisoner Vardges Gaspari and he went to "Artik" carrying a large sign with a photo of Pashinyan. "It is a shame that the journalist is in prison," Mr. Gaspari told "A1+".

Will Hammarberg's visit to Armenia contribute to the release of Nikol Pashinyan and the rest of the political prisoners? The former political prisoner said he had no answer to that question. "I don't know what Hammarberg will do. I am more concerned about what we all have to do."

Coming out of the penitentiary, Mr. Hammarberg didn't inform anything about his meeting with Nikol Pashinyan.
