Tigran Karapetyan raises the issue of political prisoners
President of Armenian TV Company ALM Holding and Leader of People's Party Tigran Karapetyan today held a rally in Yerevan to deliver an ultimatum to Armenian authorities. Mr. Karapetyan called on the authorities to stop illegalities and introduce structural changes before his next rally on February 28; otherwise, he pledged to call for snap elections.
The rally started with an hour's delay: Tigran Karapetyan embraced the ralliers and gave them his telephone numbers before mounting the platform.
In his speech, Mr. Karapetyan addressed the problem of political prisoners in Armenia and called for their immediate release. Further, he spoke of the municipality's decision to ban street trading.
The party proposed 20 slogans on the existing problems, among them "Do not rape freedom," "Do not rob," etc.
Tigran Karapetyan called on Armenian political forces to join their struggle against the illegal authorities and invited everybody to his next really due on February 28.
ALM Holding lost its broadcast license in a competitive tender administered by the National Commission on Television and Radio in December 2010. The TV Company will stop airing programs starting January 20.
