NCTR will fulfill “A1+”’s demand
The NCTR has refused to provide "A1+" TV with the package proposals of ArmNews and "Armenia" television stations with the fear that "A1+" may rip them. This is what NCTR representative Artak Sahakyan said during today's trial at the Administrative Court.
"A1+" TV appealed to the Administrative Court to receive the package proposals of ArmNews and ARMENIA television stations from the NCTR through the court.
Let us remind that based on the results of the December 16 broadcasting tender, "A1+" lost to ArmNews. "A1+" demands the package proposal submitted by ARMENIA TV since everyone knows that the same person owns both ArmNews and ARMENIA TV.
Not having the tender packages of both television stations at its disposal, "A1+" didn't have the opportunity to appeal the NCTR's December 16 groundless decision which deprived "A1+" of the right to be back on air once again.
Today the NCTR representative denied that the NCTR has refused to provide "A1+" with the packages. "We said the NCTR will provide the packages after the 20th of January and that doesn't presuppose that we will not provide them." On behalf of the NCTR, the representative promised that the NCTR will be ready to present the package proposals of ArmNews and ARMENIA television stations by January 20.
"The NCTR refused to provide us with the package proposals until January 20, but they didn't say when," said "A1+"'s lawyer Alexander Sahakyan. The deadline for appealing to the court is 20 February 2011.
The NCTR representative suggested that "A1+" come to terms with the NCTR after receiving the package proposals on January 20 and call the appeal back. "A1+" didn't reject the NCTR and mentioned that appealing to the court is not an end in itself.
"I didn't want to appeal to the court with this because there shouldn't have been any problem with providing the package proposals, but our demand was the NCTR's groundless postponement," said "A1+" President Mesrop Movsesyan.
Accepting the sides' viewpoints as a basis, Judge Kristine Mikoyan adjourned the session and scheduled the next trial on January 20 at 16:30 p.m. during which the NCTR must show up to court with the package proposals.
"A1+"'s lawyer Alexander Sahakyan permitted himself to rate today's trial as "A1+"'s small victory on the road toward restoring its violated rights.
