Gerasim Alaverdyan: “My resignation is not at issue"
Armenian Minister of Agriculture Gerasim Alaverdyan is not going to resign despite the reports on his upcoming resignation.
"It is a political decision which is to be agreed upon with the party [Orinats Yerkir]. I shall work wherever the party finds suitable. I am a soldier of the party. If it decides that my work in another field is more appropriate, of course, I will accept the decision," Gerasim Alaverdyan told a news conference on December 24 adding that his resignation is not at issue.
The Minister also dismissed the allegations that he forces his employees to become Orinats Yerkir members.
"I have never been interested in the party affiliation of my employees. I appreciate their professionalism and virtues, everything else is of less importance," said Alaverdyan
Summing up the passing year, the Minister noted that the decline in agriculture made 14.5% in 2010. Potato harvest has reduced by 100 000 tons.
