Azerbaijan has disseminated recurrent fabrication about the head of the Baku Commune, Bolshevik revolutionary Stepan Shahumyan saying he was a Dashnak and sought to create a mighty Armenia. First Secretary of the Armenian Communist Party (HKK) Ruben Tovmasyan labeled Azerbaijan's allegation as delirium.

"It's a pile of crap. Shahumyan is respected and known worldwide and the allegation cannot smear his reputation. Baku, which is known as a city of winds, concocted another lie to divert the attention of its citizens," Ruben Tovmasyan told A1+.

According to the HKK representative, the allegation not only conflicts with the history of Azerbaijan but also with the statement of Haydar Aliyev who hailed Shahumyan's deeds and activity.

Ruben Tovmasyan explains Azerbaijan's fear by their defeat in the Karabakh war.

"Each Armenian stone reminds them of Karabakh and their shameful defeat," he said adding that the HKK is going to apply to their Russian colleagues, as they do not pin hopes on Azerbaijani communists who live in the atmosphere of constant fear.

The Monument to Bolshevik revolutionary and statesman Stepan Shahumyan was destroyed in Baku in 2010.
