BHK does not nominate candidate for Yerevan Mayor
Yerevan Elders' Council convened an extraordinary sitting chaired by acting Mayor Taron Margaryan to fix the date of mayoral elections.
The sitting lasted five minutes and was followed by a closed-door discussion.
The Council members refrained from naming the nominees. Only the head of Prosperous Armenia (BHK) faction Gurgen Gasparyan said that BHK will not nominate a candidate for the post.
Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan resigned office on December 8. Under the RA the Law on Self-government Bodies of Yerevan, the Council of Elder shall elect a new mayor before 2011.
The elections are due at 11 a.m. December 17.
