Presence of political prisoners is the best assessment
The Heritage Party issued a statement on Human Rights Day stressing that establishment of democracy and civil society has no alternative in Armenia.
"The progressive people of the world mark Human Rights Day on December 10. On this day Armenia is obliged to be more consistent in protecting human rights and to remember all those who died in the fight against human rights violations. Protection of human rights is a major prerequisite for the establishment of civil society, which is not the case in Armenia.
The presence of political prisoners gives the true image of Armenia and is the best assessment of human rights state in the country. Establishment of democracy and civil society has no alternative. Heritage pledges to be consistent in the protection of human rights in the republic," reads a Heritage statement.
