Severe evaluation of Armenia
Today the European Parliament will adopt a declaration on the situation in Armenia and the current state of EU-Armenia relations.
The declaration will be announced at the end of the two-day bilateral discussions in Brussels taking place within the framework of an agreement on cooperation and partnership signed by the European Union and Armenia.
Participating from the Armenian side are Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Karine Ghazinyan and Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration Naira Zohrabyan.
According to Radio "Azatutyun", there is severe criticism in the document. For instance, delegates are circulating a provision, which states the presence of tens of political prisoners in Armenia. The European Parliament calls on putting an end to assaults against journalists and recalls the flaws existing in the country's judicial system.
In general, the document is of a positive nature. It recalls Armenia's progress in a number of spheres such as economy and human rights.
