Open letter
Executive Director of Gyumri-based GALA TV Karine Harutyunyan has addressed an open letter to OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic.
"Dear Dunja Mijatovic,
During the sixth South Caucasus Media Conference in Tbilisi, I had an opportunity to hear your appeal addressed to the presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. It was the best way to express your principled stance on media issues.
While the conference was being held in Tbilisi, jailed editor of Haykakan Zhamanak Nikol Pashinyan was being subjected to violence in an Armenian prison
The incident has found deep public resonance. We are seriously concerned about the fate of the journalist and expect you to renew your efforts in the protection of the rights of the jailed journalist," reads the letter.
