Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan today received the delegation headed by OSCE Senior Police Adviser Knut Dreyer. Present at the meeting was Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan, Sergey Kapinos.

Welcoming the guests, the Prime Minister stated that the visit will serve as a new impetus for efficient cooperation with the OSCE in terms of reforms in the Armenian police system.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Knut Dreyer presented the details of his visit to Armenia. Dreyer gave a positive evaluation of the reforms in Armenia's police system and stated that issues related to the strengthening of public confidence toward the police, the modernization of police education and corruption have been discussed during his meetings with representatives of interested departments.

Underlining the importance of the "Program for reforms in the police sphere from 2010 to 2011" adopted by the RA Government on 2010 April 1, the head of government deemed it necessary to take measures aimed at solving the issue of the consumed territorial police headquarters, equipping road police with state-of-the-art equipment and improving working conditions. Tigran Sargsyan also attached importance to the engagement and training of youth cadres in the system with the purpose of overcoming the Soviet mindset of police and ensuring the publicity of police activities.
