Suicide version not confirmed
Seda Safaryan, who is an advocate for former head of the criminal investigation section at the Charentsavan division of the RA Police Ashot Harutyunyan, gave a lecture during the trial on the case of 24-year old Vahan Khalafyan who died at Charentsavan police headquarters.
The prosecutor has demanded an 8-year sentencing for Ashot Harutyunyan as the main culprit. He is charged with beating Vahan and leading to his suicide.
"The preliminary version of Khalafyan's suicide has remained unclear for us as well. We think that the facts have not been revealed and we share the injured party's successor Artak Zeynalyan's view," Seda Safaryan told "A1+".
During the previous trial, representative of the successor Artak Zeynalyan had announced that Khalafyan was killed by police officer Mores Hayrapetyan.
Vahan Khalafyan was arrested under the charge of theft and taken to the Charentsavan police division on April 13. According to an official version, Khalafyan committed suicide with a knife after being tortured at the police division, but there were no traces on the knife.
There are four prosecutors, including former head of the criminal investigation section of the Charentsavan police division Ashot Harutyunyan and three police officers.
