“An incident did take place”
"Heritage" faction MP Zaruhi Postanjyan is certain that Nikol Pashinyan was attacked at the "Kosh" penitentiary.
Postanjyan told "A1+" that she had sufficient grounds for that. "The law is not enforced in that penitentiary. According to the law, it is not foreseen to keep 19 people in such a habitation. The number of penitentiary employees is not enough to control the territory and the cells. There are many prisoners and few employees. That is why it is very likely that masked individuals entered the cell with the purpose of pressuring Pashinyan and left with ease," said the MP, adding that Pashinyan's cellmates are simply silent.
Let us remind that last night at around 3 a.m. editor of "Haykakan Zhamanak" daily Nikol Pashinyan sounded the alarm that he was attacked by masked special service officials. To clear up the facts, MP Zaruhi Postanjyan and a group of public observers controlling the penitentiaries of the RA Ministry of Justice left for the penitentiary.
In a statement by press speaker for the head of the penitentiary department at the RA Ministry of Justice Arsen Babayan, it is stated that the arrival of the MP and the group of observers was agreed upon in advance, which Postanjyan considered as nonsensical and underlined that they were summoned by people standing close to Nikol Pashinyan.
As far as the words "absurdity" and "unserious" mentioned in Arsen Babayan's statement are concerned, Postanjyan said: "The press service can't deny in case of lack of materials. If they have conducted an expert examination and call it absurd, then they can draw such a conclusion. How can they make such a statement without a conclusion? Based on that, we can understand that an incident did take place."
Vice-chair of the group of public observers controlling the penitentiaries of the RA Ministry of Justice Laura Gasparyan, who had also visited "Kosh" penitentiary, told "A1+" that her partners had interviewed the prisoners and are currently at the penitentiary. Nikol Pashinyan's wife will be at the penitentiary soon.
Gasparyan wasn't able to provide any more information, but mentioned that the information will be released at a special session and an account developed during the session will be sent to the Minister of Justice.
