An Armenian-Arab business forum kicked off in Yerevan on November 3. The event brought together 35 entrepreneurs from the United Arab Emirates who are interested in expanding the unused economic potential and discussing the possibilities of new investments.

"The political relations between Armenia and the United Arab Emirates are on a high level," Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said during the forum.

"We are confident that the forum will give us better understanding of each other and open Armenia's investment attractiveness. I think Arab businessmen will be interested in the program underway in Zvartnots airport, which envisages processing and export of agricultural products," said Tigran Sargsyan.

The Armenian premier noted that IT, medicine, financial sector, tourism, building materials, agriculture and atomic power engineering are among priorities for bilateral cooperation.

Turnover between the two countries totaled USD 130 million in 2006-2007 and 400 million in 2009. In the main, Armenia exports fruits, vegetables, stones, and imports furniture and household appliances.

UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi said they are ready to strengthen economic ties with Armenia.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the RA Ministry of Economy and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade during the event.
