Will Azerbaijan let?
The Field Assessment Mission of the OSCE Co-Chairs is ending its mission in the liberated territories.
The Fact-finding Group will visit Karvatchar and then leave for Yerevan.
In response to a question on a specific agreement with the Co-Chairs and when they will visit the territories under Azeri control, press speaker for the NKR Ministry of Foreign Affairs David Babayan said:
"They will do that soon, but we can expect that to happen in 2011. It is a technical issue, as well as political to a certain extent, if Azerbaijan doesn't impede. We have nothing to worry about. They came and should have a better picture of what the people say, how they are living, what they want and their faith in the future. I think this will be instructive for them," said David Babayan.
According to Babayan, the fact that neither the Russian nor the U.S. Co-Chair has personally visited the territories of the Artsakh Republic and have only been in Stepanakert must be taken into account. "They always come here and return. Let them go and tour other regions of Artsakh, especially out of Stepanakert. Let them talk to the people, get acquainted with the nature and get to know the republic better, for that matter."
He also informed that there is no meeting with the Karabakh side after the mission.
