"Criminal elements plot violence against Pashinyan”
The Committee on Defence of Political Prisoners and Persecuted has issued a statement calling on all interested parties to unite in support of Nikol Pashinyan.
"According to press reports, the Department of Penitentiary Institutions under the RA Ministry of Justice is plotting new violence against Nikol Pashinyan who is serving prison sentence in Kosh penitentiary. The ruling echelons instructed the prison administration to involve criminal elements in violent actions against editor-in-chief of Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper Nikol Pashinyan. It is interesting that the authorities turn to the criminal world to silence Pashinyan. The method was widely applied in Soviet prisons.
The Committee calls on public and political organizations, civil activists, journalists, international organizations and other interested parties to unite in support of all Armenian political prisoners regardless of their political affiliation.
Only through joint efforts, we can neutralize the menace threatening Pashinyan," reads a Committee statement.
