Today U.S. Senators will even hear arguments on why Matthew Bryza should take or not take the office of U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan. Political scientist Alexander Iskandaryan is rest assured that Bryza will be appointed ambassador, but there will not be a decision on that today.

Today the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee will put the proposal for appointing former OSCE Co-Chair, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Bryza U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan up for a vote. His nomination was put up for a vote in August, but was blocked by Democrat Senators.

"It would be logical to predict the postponement of Bryza's confirmation for a while, say, in November during Senate elections in the U.S. The Senators' positions are, in one way or another, definitely conditioned by the elections," Iskandaryan told "A1+".

According to Iskandaryan, Armenia will gain more from Bryza's appointment to Azerbaijan.

"In my opinion, Bryza has not been a successful diplomat to this day. If we assume that he is currently the bearer of Turkish and Azerbaijani positions in the region, judging the fact that he has failed, we can believe that Bryza will not be successful this time either," said the political scientist.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Bryza was especially criticized by U.S. Democrat Senators for his evasion of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement. Among other factors that played a role included his marriage to a Turkish woman, being the Azerbaijani foreign minister's brother-in-law during the wedding and receiving many wedding gifts from Baku.

Alexander Iskandaryan also noted that the U.S. policy and separate individuals are different.

"There are geopolitical plans, certain incentives that come from above. In any case, no matter what happens, the fact remains that the Armenian lobby was able to have an impact on the policy of a country like the U.S.," Iskandaryan told "A1+".
