Armenia's ex Prosecutor General Gagik Jhangiryan focused on the state in the Armenian army during the opposition's rally near Matenadaran.

Jhangiryan refrained from criticizing the army not to play into the enemy's hands.

"I feel deep sorrow about the recent happenings in the army. It never occurred to me that an Armenian soldier might be dishonoured to that extent. I never imagined an officer beating his interior for hours. We have appeared in a sorrowful condition where a commander commits suicide unable to resist these authorities," he said.

Jhangiryan is convinced that after the events of March 1 no soldier takes the orders of his superiors seriously as "they ordered to take up arms against their own people."

"The recent incidents in the army are the continuation of the deadly clashes of March 1 when the authorities raised a hand on their countrymen. Two years have passed since the events but to date no one has been made accountable for the military coup attempts," Jhangiryan announced.

In conclusion, Jhangiryan said the ARmenian National Congress is going to initiate a criminal action in the name of all citizens who met violence on March 1-2.
"The problems existing in our army and in the country on the whole can be solved through the resignation of these authorities," he said.
