Assassination attempt was videotaped
Aslan Usoyan, a famous Kurdish thief in law operating in Moscow, and Russian criminal kingpin Vyacheslav Ivankov (Yaponchik) were shot from the same weapon.
Usoyan, known as Granny Khasan, was shot by a 9mm caliber bullet fired by an unidentified assailant in central Moscow Sept. 16 when visiting his son. The attack was videotaped.
Usoyan's body-guard Arthur Baghramyan, was shot first at 12/7 Tverskaya Street. Usoyan attempted to flee but the gunman's bullet struck him in the abdomen.
Usoyan and his bodyguard were hospitalized immediately after the attack. They were operated and are in the resuscitation department.
Investigators do not exclude repetition of the assassination attempt. Usoyan is put under strict surveillance.
Both Usoyan and Yaponchik turn out to have been shot from a Dragunov sniper rifle which suggests that the two assassination attempts are interconnected.
Investigation is in progress.
