Bernard Fassier: “We appreciate reports on the situation”
The Co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Ambassadors Robert Bradtke of the United States, Igor Popov of Russia and Bernard Fassier of France as well as Personal Representative of the OSCE CiO, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk are monitoring the line of contact between the NKR and Azerbaijani armed forces.
In the morning, the co-chairs arrived in Barda and met with local administration. After the meeting, Bernard Fassier told journalists that the Co-Chairs' regional visit would be summed up in a final statement, Azerbaijani APA News Agency reports.
"This is our first visit to Barda. I assure you in the name of the OSCE Minsk group that we highly appreciate the meeting with the local authorities and the reports on the situation in the line of contact," said the French co-chair.
Fassier did not make any further comments, saying it was the first stage of the Co-Chairs' mission. He said that detailed information will be available in two or three days, without any comments on all the aspects of the Co-Chairs' meetings in Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Remind that the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs are expected to monitor the contact line between the NKR and Azerbaijani armed forces on September 8. They are expected to cross the frontier and pass to the NKR territory. The mediators are to hold meetings with the Nagorno-Karabakh leadership today. On September 9 they are to arrive in Yerevan.
