"They kept us at the edge of our seats for a year, but in the end, the border remained closed and there is no solution to the issue," said citizen Anahit during surveys on the streets of Yerevan.

Today marks one year since the Turkey-Armenia Protocols were put into circulation.

Anush, 34, is certain that the border will remain closed, but she blames neither the Armenian nor Turkish authorities for that. "It was an order that had to be completed. Both states are subject to one power, but I can't say which one."

Sedrak Sargsyan, 68, says the entire process has turned into a show. "It was organized through Turkey and Armenia, but the peoples didn't get anything out of it."

"They are of no value, if frozen. We simply managed to show the Turks that Armenia is ready to open the borders. They got scared and didn't open them. I am for the opening of the border, if the Turks' entrance is under close supervision. Turkey is very considerate in its policies," says 67-year old Serob Vardanyan. According to Armen, "the opening of the border will favor the Turks living near Van, but Armenians won't get anything out of it.

There were also citizens who still hope that the border will be opened, despite the fact that the process has been frozen.

There were also citizens who didn't even answer and left, rest assured that the solution to the issue doesn't depend on them at all.
