First-year students were the most nervous
The first-year university students could be spotted from a distance today since they were the ones who were most nervous and confused.
Mariam Arushanyan of Etchmiadzin has been accepted to the Romance-Germanic Faculty at Yerevan State University. Mariam was so nervous today that she wasn't able to find her fellow classmates, the list of courses and the lecture halls.
"I am very nervous. I only see strange faces and get happy when I see some people I know from school. I don't have any acquaintances yet, but I hope that we will get acquainted and establish good relations," says the student.
The first lecturer she sees is Narine Gasparyan who provided her with the guidelines for first-year students and showed her where to go to see the list of courses.
Some first-year students came alone and some brought their relatives to get acquainted with the institution. Among them was Manushak Sahakyan who was accompanying her grandchild to the university. "My grandchild got accepted to the Romance-Germanic Faculty at Yerevan State University. There is a lot of commotion. We don't know where my grandchild's department is. I asked and we were escorted to the 2nd floor and that is where I read my grandchild's name and last name. Now I'm waiting for her to come so we can go," says Sahakyan.
On the day's occasion, YSU Rector Aram Simonyan congratulated the students and set aside the 3,000 first-year students who were ten times more than the number of first-year students last year. "I would like to see them perceive their duties during their years of study and not spare any efforts to reach great heights," said the rector.
