The first instance court of Kentron and Nork-Marash districts of Yerevan continued the trial of Armenian National Congress activists David Kiramijyan and Sargis Gevorgyan with testimonies by witnesses, police officers Arsen Grigoryan, Edgar Karapetyan and Arzuman Sofanyan.

They told the story of what happened near Freedom Square on May 31.

The eyewitnesses mentioned that they had seen what was going on near Saryan statue and had tried to help the injured, Arkadi Baghdasaryan.

Eyewitness Arzuman Sofanyan said he had not seen David Kiramijyan doing anything, but Sargis Gevorgyan had hurt the policemen.

When David Kiramijyan's advocate Melanya Arustamyan tried to find out Arzuman Sofanyan whether the testimony given during the preliminary inquiry was correct or the one given during the trial, the eyewitness stated that both are correct.

Today's trial was postponed because the injured Varazdat Tadevosyan, eyewitnesses Lusine Tadevosyan, Lilit Gevorgyan and Ruben Ayvazyan had not shown up to court. They had informed the court that they were out of the country and that their testimonies given during the preliminary inquiry should be accepted as a basis. However, the copies of their airplane tickets were missing. Prosecutor Harutyun Harutyunyan petitioned to arrest them and start an interrogation and he received the consent by David Kiramijyan's advocate Melanya Arustamnyan and Sargis Gevorgyan's advocate Stepan Voskanyan.

The next trial will be held on September 9 at 3 p.m.

The court bailiffs didn't let Sargis Gevorgyan's mother and former political prisoner Vardges Gaspar take part in the trial. They were informed that they couldn't enter, if they were going to interrupt the trial.
