E. Sharmazanov: "It's a slap"
Support A1+!I consider the State Department representative's statement as positive and to a certain extent anticipated in the sense that the U.S. administration views the latest developments in Armenian-Russian relations as an issue related to both sides and it emanates from regional security and stability," said today secretary of the NA faction of the HHK (Republican Party), press speaker for the HHK Edward Sharmazanov as he commented on the statement made by press speaker of the U.S. State Department Mark Toner.
Sharmazanov takes note that with this statement, Washington is officially reaffirming the partnering nature of Armenian-American relations.
"This means that the U.S. is giving a positive response to RA President Serzh Sargsyan's foreign policy and is emphasizing its willingness to ensure the continuation of strengthening of relations with Armenia," said Sharmazanov, adding that the U.S.'s emphasis on Russia in the MG intermediary mission, according to which "Russia is a part of the Minsk Group and plays a constructive role in that sense", is a diplomatic slap to Baku and its patron.
"This statement from Washington makes it clear that the proposals for the Madrid document made in St. Petersburg have been developed and presented not only by the Kremlin, but as Azerbaijan claims, the Minsk Group Co-Chairing countries," said Sharmazanov.
Let us remind that Mark Toner said the official Washington finds that the Armenian-Russian agreement on extending the timeframe for the Russian military base in Gumri is the business of Russia and Armenia.
