Sargis Tkhruni feels a menace of war
Support A1+!Sargis Tkhruni Youth Student Union of Social Democratic Hnchak Party (SDHK) has addressed a letter to U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton.
"It's not a secret that your visit to Yerevan, scheduled for July 4, is first of all aimed at discussing the Karabakh conflict. Before your arrival, the presidents of the OSCE co-chair countries, Obama, Sarkozy and Medvedev, issued a statement on the Karabakh conflict. We - the representatives of the Armenian youth - are deeply convinced that the proposals made in the statement, hint at a new war in the region.
Moreover, neither the United States, nor Russia or France condemned Azerbaijani recent provocation at the contact line of the Armed Forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan which resulted in the death of four Armenian servicemen. We are confident that if such incidents happened in Iraq, Afghanistan or Congo, the American media would immediately provide a live broadcast from the scene, and the White House and the State Secretariat would hurry to denounce the incident.
The proposals of the three presidents cannot resolve the Karabakh conflict; rather, they will lead to unprecedented consequences.
To date, none of the co-chair countries has explained accurately why Kosovo can be granted independence while Artsakh cannot.
Double standards are known to be applied worldwide but numerous are the cases when their application has led to great tragedies.
Mrs. Clinton, the people of Artsakh witnessed the consequences of Azeri rule in the Soviet years, they felt the pro-Turkish Armenophobic policy which left hundreds of Armenians killed in a true genocide carried out in Baku, Sumgait, Maraga and other places.
Any decision bound to Artsakh, is fraught with unpredictable consequences, which may, like an epidemic, spread not only in the region, but also in a more extensive geographical area.
Artsakh wants to live freely, and nobody can reverse the decision," reads the letter.
