Armenia to represented at 54th Venice Biennale
By a decision of the RA Ministry of Culture, Victor Mnatsakanyan was appointed Commissioner of the Armenian pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale.
Armenia has been participating in Venice Biennale since 1995. The Armenian Pavilion was represented by Eduard Balasanyan, the founder of the Center for Contemporary Experimental Art (NPAC) from 1995 to 2009. The 54th Venice Biennale entitled Universes in Universe will be held from June to November
Each country participating in the art exhibition should have its commissioner and curator to be responsible for the compliance of national projects with the biennale criteria.
The newly-appointed Commissioner, Victor Mnatsakanyan says Armenia will present an extremely interesting project at the 54th Venice Biennale. The Armenian Ministry of Culture and Commissioner of the Armenian pavilion sent a letter of appreciation to Curator of the 54th Venice Biennale Bice Curiger.
"Isms" of art are formed in Venice Biennale, and national pavilions, Commissioners and Curators spare no efforts to represent their countries in the best possible way.
On June 25-28, Victor Mnatsakanyan will be in Venice to conduct preparatory works. He noted that an open discussion with participation of people interested in art, theorists and art critics will be organized in mid-July. As a result of discussions, the Armenian pavilion's curator will be selected. Details of the pavilion's organization and its location will be announced prior to presentation of the Armenian pavilion to the biennale art directors.
