NKR warns Baku against destabilizing contact line
NKR Ministry of Defense has issued a statement denouncing Azerbaijan's recent subversive act.
"According to the information received from the NKR Defense Army, on June 18, at 23.30, an armed reconnaissance group entered the territory of Nagorno Karabakh from Azerbaijan. The Azeris managed to penetrate into the northeast part of the contact line between the Armed Forces of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan reaching the village of Chaylu.
As a result of measures taken by the NKR armed forces, the enemy's advance was stopped. The enemy retreated, leaving a killed soldier and weapons on the battlefield.
Four were killed and another four were injured on the Karabakhi side during the fighting.
Junior sergeant Mnatsakan Gasparyan, soldiers Araik Barseghyan, Eduard Manukyan and Paruyr Melkonyan were killed heroically and junior sergeant Gagik Matevosyan, soldiers Galust Badasyan, Andranik Arzumanyan, Harutyun Mesropyan were injured.
The most striking is that the subversive attack was reported following the trilateral meeting of Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian Presidents where President Ilham Aliyev expressed readiness to proceed with peaceful negations over the Karabakh conflict.
Taking into account this and previous violations of the truce, NKR Defense Ministry finds it necessary to inform that the Azerbaijani side is attempting to destabilize the situation at the contact line and peril the shaky peace in the region.
The Ministry warns Baku that any attempt to destabilize the region and to jeopardize Karanakh's security will receive an adequate answer.
