Some 36 former political prisoners will hold a sit-down strike at Liberty Square today evening. The strikers demand that the government release the other oppositionists put into jail in the wake post-election clashes of 2008.

"Most of the strikers were amnestied a year ago and freed from the status of "hostage," former political prisoner David Matevosyan said. "Despite all tortures and sufferings, the political prisoners continue their struggle for the restoration of constitutional order."

If the police attempt to intervene with the strike, it means they are not guided by Article 5 of the RA Constitution and execute the order of oligarchs and skinheads," David Matevosyan added.

Recall that the City Hall has not sanctioned the strike.
