"Haykakan Zhamanak" daily rates the arrest of the daily's journalist Ani Gevorgyan as RA Chief of Police Alik Sargsyan's personal revenge.

"Alik Sargsyan was very displeased with Ani's articles in which she revealed that the RA Police anthem is the unsuccessful reiteration of the Georgian one," head of the newspaper Anna Hakobyan said today.

Mrs. Hakobyan informed that the editorial staff has video materials showing how the police showed Ani Gevorgyan before the arrest and said "this is the girl, take her." "Chief of Police Alik Sargsyan is confused and faces hard days ahead. If the police don't correct their mistake and keep Ani in prison, they will face new problems. We advise Alik Sargsyan to not face confrontation with "Haykakan Zhamanak" and work by the law," said Anna Hakobyan.

Ani Gevorgyan is charged with Part 1, Article 316 of the RA Penal Code for applying force against a state representative.

"Haykakan Zhamanak" rates this as the government's subsequent attempt to make up a case. Mrs. Hakobyan noted that Ani was simply doing her job. As to how the police were applying force against the RA citizens, Hakobyan advised the police to get acquainted with the information on different websites.

Listing the mistakes by the police during Ani Gevorgyan's arrest, "Haykakan Zhamanak" daily's release correspondent Hayk Gevorgyan said: "We are dealing with an armed group that calls itself the "police".

Seconding Hayk, Anna Hakobyan noted that Ani's arrest is Alik Sargsyan's abuse of office. "We write about other officials as well, but unlike Alik Sargsyan, they don't have police to arrest journalists. Now those officials will ask Sargsyan why he doesn't tell officers to arrest journalists for writing about them."

Journalist of "Haykakan Zhamanak" Syuzi Poghosyan was also arrested yesterday and released at midnight. "They took me to the police station under the charge of attack against a state representative."

The journalist found out that "Hayk" journalist LIlit Tadevosyan's assault was that she recorded and videotaped the police as they were arresting chairman of the Social-Democratic (Hnchakyan) Party Lyudmila Sargsyan.

The staff at "Haykakan Zhamanak" finds that not releasing Ani Gevorgyan will be a precedent for all journalists who release information that is not favorable to the authorities.

In the end, let us state that today is editor-in-chief of "Haykakan Zhamanak" daily Nikol Pashinyan's birthday.
