When the Turkish side will be ready

On May 31, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan paid an official visit to Canada where he met with Foreign Minister met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Canada Lawrence Cannon.

In the context of discussions on broadening of trade relations, Minister Nalbandyan mentioned with content that there are nearly 20 Canadian companies in Armenia and the number may increase through combined efforts.

The Armenian and Canadian foreign ministers touched upon strengthening cooperation within the framework of international relations, as well as issues related to reinforcement of security and stability in the South Caucasus.
The sides discussed Armenia's steps aimed at establishing relations with Turkey and the latest developments of the process. Edward Nalbandyan mentioned that the process will move forward when the Turkish side will be ready to respect the commitments, that is, ratify and implement the signed Protocols without preconditions.

In his turn, Minister Canon noted that Canada welcomes all efforts that will lead to the establishment of normal relations between Armenia and Turkey and the opening of the border.
Edward Nalbandyan's next meeting was with speaker of the House of Representatives of the Canadian parliament Peter Milliken.
Minister Nalbandyan expressed gratitude for the Canadian parliament's recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
The foreign ministers also exchanged views on the normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations.

At the Canadian parliament, Minister Nalbandyan also had a meeting with members of "Canada-Armenia" parliamentary friendship group representing different political parties.

Edward Nalbandyan's next meeting was with Canada's Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Jason Kenney.
On the same day in the evening, Edward Nalbandyan had a meeting with representatives of the Canadian-Armenian community at the RA Embassy in Canada. He introduced the previous and upcoming meetings in Ottawa and responded to many questions regarding Armenia's foreign policy.
