Armenian GMs take modest places in U.S. Chess Championship

The first round of U.S. Chess Championship 2010 ended in Saint Louis.

In the 7th tour, the leading four chess players, Hikaru Nakamura, Gata Kamsky, Alexander Onischuk and Yury Shulman, tied the games and reached the final.

Armenia's Varuzhan Akobian, Melikset Khachiyan, Levon Altounian will continue the championship with the other 17 participants under Swiss rules.

After the 7th tour, Varuzhan Akobian moved into12 place with 3,5 points, Khachiyan - 17th place (3 points); Altounian- 21st place (2,5points).

In the 8th tour Hakobian will play against Jaan Ehlvest, Khachiyan against Ray Robson and Altounian against Joel Benjamin
