The National Assembly is currently discussing the draft for making changes in the RA Law on "Television and Radio" by the first reading after the draft was approved by the RA Government on May 13.

The draft, which the government believed could not be postponed, has already been criticized by a number of mass media outlets and news agencies, but it has been put up for discussion in parliament anyway.

Although it is up for discussion, Ombudsman Armen Harutyunyan has decided to hold a working meeting to discuss the draft on May 24.

The Ombudsman has undertaken this initiative, "taking into account the concerns raised by non-governmental organizations and other interested individuals regarding a number of disputed points in the draft, as well as the importance of proper legislation on television and radio."

The creators of the draft, representatives of civil society and other interested parties are expected to take part in the discussion. Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan has also been invited to the meeting.

"It is going to be a working meeting," as reported by the Ombudsman's office.
