Elections to self-government bodies held in Ararat

On May 16, 2010, elections to self-government bodies were held in ten communities of Ararat marz - Sayat-Nova, Sis, Sipanik, Zorak, Khachpar, Darbnik, Nizami, Hayanist, Noramarg and Eghegnavan.

Republican Ghazar Martirosyan was elected village elder of Khachpar, Republican Artavazd Dunoyan of Mirzam and freelance Hovsep Ghazaryan of Eghegnavan.

Three candidates were nominated for the headman of Sayat Nova village - freelance Armen Epremyan, Prosperous Armenia Party member Razmik Alaverdyan and Republican Hamlet Chughuryan. Gaining 410 votes, Razmik Alaverdyan beat his Republican contender with 100 votes.

Freelance Armen Eghyan became headman of Sis community with 413 votes, leaving behind his Republican contender Paruyr Mnatsakanyan.

In Sipanik, freelance Manukyan won over Republican Hayk Badalyan with a difference of 11 votes, and in Zorak Republican Manuk Maloyan defeated freelance Eduard Harutyunyan and Prosperous Armenia member Sevak Badalyan with 334 votes.

Freelance Balabek Sarkisyan became headman of Hayanist community, Republican Lyovik Ghukasyan of Darbnik and Republican Sargis Galstyan of Noramarg.
