Turkish NSC holds 6,5-hour discussion
Yesterday evening, Turkish National Security Council summarised the results of a 6, 5-hour discussio.
The NSC sitting headed by Turkish President Abdullah Gul was attended by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Chief of Turkish General Staff Ilker Basbug, Deputy Premier Cemil Cicek and other top officials.
The sitting focused on the possible cooperation of Turkey, Iraq and U.S. in a combat against terrorism, the presidential elections in Northern Cyprus, the establishment of peace and stability in South Caucasus and issues relating to the National Security Council, reports Anadolu news agency.
The participants also summarised the results of the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington.
Special reference was made to the recognition of Armenian Genocide by a number of countries and the situation in Southern Caucasus.
The study of Armenian and Turkish joint history should be unbiased and scientifically grounded. As for Southern Caucasus, Turkey is taking steps to ensure stability in the region and enter into cooperation with all countries," reads a NSC statement
