Medal is a new "burden"
Hovik Abrahamyan awarded the Medal of Honor of the RA National Assembly to former speaker of the National Council of Slovakia Pavol Hrushovski.
The latter, who is currently a member of the committee on international relations of the National Council, was awarded the medal for his support in adopting and confirming the resolution on recognizing the 1915 Armenian Genocide by the National Council of the Republic of Slovakia on November 30, 2004.
"Everyone must consider the Armenian Genocide as a crime against all humanity. We demand that the perpetrators be serious and perceive what a horrible thing they have done. I am proud of the Slovakian parliament for having the courage to recognize the genocide as a fact and more pleased that we are the ones to set an example for all other countries that still don't have that courage," said Pavol Hrushovski in his words of gratitude.
Viewing the Slovakian parliament's adoption of the Armenian Genocide resolution as a political evaluation of the genocide, Pavol Hrushovski assured that he was accepting the award as a new "burden" of fulfilling new commitments that the political figures of his country must take on for the solution to Armenia's issues and problems.
