Protests at Republic Square on Thursday
"You won't get away with killing our sons," said the women gathered at Republic Square.
The mothers of soldiers killed in peaceful conditions held a protest in front of the government building. As every Thursday on government session day, they had come with photos of their sons with the demand to reveal the murders.
However, no government official received them. Instead, passers-by were approaching them, asking questions and leaving.
"The Cassation Court had ruled to acknowledge Sergeant Edgar Avetisyan and deputy colonel Artur Petrosyan as guilty, but the sergeant was released by amnesty and the deputy colonel was sentenced to 3 years and 3 months. I was informed that the deputy colonel is not at the penitentiary and is doing his job at the military unit. I have appealed to the Minister of Justice and he has promised to respond. As if killing one soldier wasn't enough, now they have sent him to his post to kill other soldiers as well," said Mrs. Anahit, mother of Andranik Hayrapetyan who was one of the killed soldiers.
But the women were not the only ones holding a protest in front of the government building. The residents of the sale zone were also holding a silent protest with the demand for adequate compensation, but government officials didn't pay attention to them either.
