Advocate Arshak Tovmasyan was supposed to make a defense speech today at the first instance court of the Kentron and Nork-Marash districts. He is the advocate of police officials Gegham Harutyunyan and Hovhannes Ghukasyan who are charged with the criminal case of March 1-2.

The police officials are charged with crossing the official powers and applying force under Part 2, Article 309 of the RA Criminal Code.

The trial is already in the final stage and it was apparently set early in the morning to end today. Let us remind that this stage of the trial of Andranik Manukyan and Gegham Grigoryan was held in a day and the verdict was reached on the same day as well.

The advocate was still absent an hour after the hour that had been set. Defendants Gegham Harutyunyan and Hovhannes Ghukasyan informed judge Gagik Poghosyan that their advocate was seriously ill and could not show up to the trial. This came as a surprise to judge Poghosyan because advocate Tovmasyan himself had asked the court to set the trial date for today in order to present his defense speech.

Defendant Gegham Harutyunyan mentioned that his advocate had a fever, but that he would definitely show up to court regardless of his health condition. "Will he feel better in one or two days?" asked the judge, surprised. "Yes," assured Harutyunyan.

The trial is set for December 25 at 12 p.m.
